Missions

Substation & tower inspection
Read the gauges from the air.
Scheduled close-ups of equipment, towers and fittings. Matrice 4D Series medium tele camera can detect pins and cracks from 10 m and read instrument data at substations. DJI O4 Ground Station on a rooftop lets Dock 3 sit next to substation walls.

Line inspection
Fly the line. Avoid the wire.
Automated routes along distribution and transmission lines. The optional Obstacle Sensing Module pairs rotating LiDAR with mmWave radar for 12 mm wire-level obstacle avoidance at up to 15 m/s in complex line crossings. For long corridors, a crew can fly Matrice 400 with Zenmuse L2 LiDAR.

Solar
Find the hot panels.
Thermal passes over the array, with anomalies flagged. On an automated route, the drone can detect infrared temperature anomalies and notify your operators. Matrice 4TD’s UHR Infrared Image mode reaches 1280 × 1024.

Thermal hotspots & pipelines
Heat tells you first.
Thermal routes over pipelines, transformers and connections. Matrice 4TD measures temperature from −40° to 320°F in high gain mode and up to 932°F in low gain mode. Zenmuse H30T on Matrice 400 adds 1280 × 1024 thermal and a 3,000 m range finder for crew flights.

Storm damage response
Eyes on the damage, fast.
A dock on a truck goes where the outage is.
- How it works. Dock 3 is DJI’s first dock built for vehicle mounting, for emergency operations and long-distance inspections. Change detection helps compare before and after a storm. Alerts can also launch a fixed dock automatically through FlightHub 2.

DJI Matrice 400 + Zenmuse L2
Crew-flown
LiDAR for line corridors, vegetation and as-builts. Zenmuse L2: LiDAR plus a 4/3 CMOS 20 MP mapping camera; system accuracy 5 cm horizontal and 4 cm vertical at 150 m; processed in DJI Terra.
Per enterprise.dji.com/zenmuse-l2/specs.
Dock 3 works with Matrice 4D and 4TD only. Matrice 400 is crew-flown. Specs are DJI’s.

Utilities FAQ
Which drone goes in the dock?
Matrice 4TD for thermal work, or Matrice 4D for mapping and close-up inspection.
Can it fly near energized lines?
Matrice 4D/4TD with the Obstacle Sensing Module is built for power-line crossings, per DJI. Your utility’s clearance rules still apply.
Do we need a waiver?
Plan on a Part 107 remote pilot, and FAA approval for flights beyond visual line of sight.
Can our SCADA or sensors trigger a flight?
FlightHub 2 Auto Dispatch takes alerts from alarm or sensor systems. We confirm what your system can send during the site survey.
Where does the data go?
To FlightHub 2, on DJI’s cloud or deployed on your own servers.
What does it cost?
It depends on your sites, number of docks and software plan. Ask for a quote.
