Accuracy checks

Prove it with independent check points.

Details
  • Hold out check points that are not used in processing
  • Report RMS error against your survey control
  • Accuracy depends on control, site and workflow
Not a substitute for a licensed surveyor. These tools collect data. A licensed professional surveyor is responsible for boundary, legal and certified surveys.

Deliverables

What you get back

DSM / DTM

Surface and bare-earth models.

More

The DSM includes buildings and canopy. The DTM is ground only, built from ground-classified points.

Contours

Elevation lines for CAD.

More

Generated from the DTM at the interval your plan set calls for.

Point cloud

Measured 3D points.

More

From lidar or photogrammetry. DJI Terra exports PNTS, LAS, PLY, PCD and S3MB; Wingtra software exports LAS or CSV.

Orthomosaic

A true-scale, measurable map image.

More

Distortion-corrected, georeferenced imagery for measuring distances and areas. Typically delivered as GeoTIFF.

Profiles & sections

Cross-sections along a line.

More

Cut profiles along a road, rail or pipe centerline from the surface model.

3D mesh

A textured 3D model.

More

Built from nadir and oblique imagery. Good for reviews and stakeholder updates.

  • Warranty help: we coordinate manufacturer service for the rest of your kit.
Does a drone survey replace a licensed surveyor?

No. It is a data-collection tool. The licensed surveyor sets control, checks accuracy and signs the work.

RTK or PPK?

RTK corrects positions during the flight; PPK corrects them afterward from base station logs. Both still benefit from independent check points.

Do I still need ground control points?

Usually some, plus check points to verify accuracy. Wingtra’s published 3 cm accuracy assumes its recommended PPK workflow.

Lidar or photogrammetry?

Lidar for vegetated ground and thin features. Photogrammetry for open ground and true-color maps. Many jobs use both.

Do you sell GNSS bases and targets?

Yes. Ask about the DJI D-RTK 3 station and Hoodman ground control point kits.

Specifications are manufacturer figures from official pages, checked October 11, 2026: WingtraRAY, Matrice 400, Zenmuse L2, Zenmuse P1, DJI Matrice 4 Series, XGRIDS Lixel L2 Pro, Lixel L3, XGRIDS LCC, DJI Terra, DJI Modify. Accuracy depends on the site, control and workflow.

Drone data supports, but does not replace, a licensed professional surveyor. Boundary, legal and certified survey work must be done or signed by a licensed surveyor where the law requires it.
